The Consumer Protection Unit is warning Delawareans about threatening calls from Delmarva Power stating that you may have an overdue balance and your services will be shut off within minutes if large sums of monies are not provided. Please … take the time to familiar yourself with the electric utility account information from the Lewes Board of Public Works. We will never demand or threaten our customers to pay utilizing a MoneyPak card, iTunes gift cards or any other prepaid card products; nor request your bank account or credit card information over the phone. We do not do any collections or disconnections after business hours or on Saturday and Sunday. It is important that you ask the caller to provide a return phone number so that you can go and check your records … do not keep them on the phone waiting … hang up … and then call the Lewes Board of Public Works at 302-645-6228 to confirm.
